I’m Sally Porteous and I’ve spent my career creating events that bring people together.
I created Red Lanyard in 2006, building on experience across corporate events, conferences, festivals, entertainment production, touring and promotion.
Today, Red Lanyard plans and produces conferences, corporate and community events, meetings and festivals across Australia and around the world. We focus on the audience experience, the purpose of the event and what our clients want to achieve, while keeping the planning practical and the experience memorable.
With more than 20 years in event management and production, I have delivered events for some of Australia’s best-known organisations and brought some of the biggest names in music to audiences across Australia.
How We Approach Events
Every event starts with the same questions: Why are we bringing people together? Who is the audience? What do we want them to think, feel or do as a result? From there, we work through the strategy, planning and production needed to turn the idea into an event that works for the audience, the organisation and the budget.
What We Do
Red Lanyard provides event strategy, planning, management and production, either managing the complete event or working alongside in-house teams. Our experience includes conferences, corporate and community events, meetings, festivals, launches, activations and other events that bring people together for a purpose.
Depending on the event, our role can include event strategy and design, venue and supplier management, budgeting, sponsorship, speaker and stakeholder management, event operations, risk and logistics, and on-site production.

Our experience spans corporate and government events, conferences, community events, festivals, activations, entertainment production, touring and promotion. Over the years, we’ve worked with government departments, councils, universities, industry associations, corporate organisations and community groups, delivering everything from intimate meetings and workshops to conferences, major events and festivals.
That breadth of experience means we understand both the strategic and practical sides of bringing people together, from developing the idea and designing the audience experience through to budgets, suppliers, risk, logistics and delivery on the day.
